The Burning Crusade Block

The head of the class is the burning crusade block, what is the first Block quests? And what is the second Block quests?

Let's take a little time to honor the cards that must be excluded from the new format. It is sometimes hard to understand the direction you're going, especially if you don't closely examine the path that led you to the place where you currently stand. I would argue that identifying and understanding the cards with the biggest impact, that are most played, and have a dominant place in the Constructed game will give you a sense of what needs to be replaced and which archetypes might rise or disappear in their absence.

The North American Continental Championship is on the horizon. Last year, nearly 400 players flocked to the Midwest for one of the biggest weekends that gaming has to offer. This year, GenCon beckons card flippers from around the United States and Canada to throw their hats into the ring for a run at the crown; however, the fun doesn’t stop there. Aside from a massive hall packed with new product, gaming previews, a huge homage to Upper Deck Entertainment, and various other vendors, you will find an action-packed schedule of tournaments and contests surrounding the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game and MMO.

What a great move! Many players will have worked long hours in preparation for the Continental Championship. They will have tested and built decks using the entire card pool for the Constructed portion of the tournament. If things don't work out so hot during Day 1 of the Continental Championship, then players get a chance to battle in another format. The powerhouse cards and dominant deck types from one environment will slip away, only to be replaced by an entirely new set of cards and hot archetypes that will thrive in the Block Constructed format.
After working through a mental checklist of first block favorites, there appears to be a huge list of quests that have become a mainstay in Constructed play. Cards like One Draenei's Junk . . ., Counterattack!, and Chasing A-Me 01 flanked popular race-specific quests like Solanian's Belongings and Rescue the Survivors! to serve as foundations for the draw power and tricks used in many popular decks. Corki's Ransom from the Fires of Outland expansion, Finkle Einhorn, At Your Service from Through the Dark Portal, and many other popular quests filled out the population of Constructed favorites from the first block.

Take note that there will be a near complete change of guard in control decks. Recursion is nearly extinct. Cards like Deep Sea Salvage should see some play, and mainstays like Gahz'ridian may be replaced by other draw sources like Meeting with the Master. I expect archetypes to flourish around newcomers like A Warm Welcome and other cards that have been hanging out waiting for a chance to shine. Most quests that have the word Illidari in the title seem like candidates for play, and Aldor- and Scryer-specific quests should see some play as well. They are already seeing some wide play in the traditional format, so this seems like a sure bet. Maybe the hunt for great new quests will be unimportant in a world where The Lexicon Demonica might pair with discard-centric and draw-oppressive favorites like The Root of All Evil to eliminate the use of quests all together.

Today, I'll spend some time highlighting the greatest cards from the first block, the blockbusters from the Legions, Betrayer, and Hunt expansions, how about you?
